Paarsh: The perfect amalgamation of classical India with contemporary present
Today, we are in conversation with Priyanka Pandey who happens to be the founder of Paarsh Atelier, a designer menswear brand based in the city of joy, Kolkata.
Let us know about her brand directly from Priyanka herself.
1. I think everyone has a wonderful story behind starting their brand. How did you start your brand? What was the first thought that made you feel like this is your calling?
Priyanka: I was introduced to the fashion space during my graduation in London from the London School of Economics. Blown away by the possibilities of the design, the creation of what we know today as Paarsh Atelier started in 2018 and has since grown leaps and bounds.
Heading the creative design for Paarsh Atelier comes from a place of deep passion for the craft. I often get asked why menswear? I specialize in unique occasionwear for men, in a market that is either brimming with options for women or is dominated by brands churning age-old designs for men. My start-up aims to bridge this gap and bring to the customers, well-fitted and unique designs at off the rack pricing.
Moreover, I strongly believe that a feminine eye can deliver desirable clothes regardless of gender. It’s basically a multitude of systems like strategy, design, and production, co-existing that builds the essence of our brand. As a graduate of the LSE, I’ve learned to structure varying roles in such a way that I have been able to pull off the whole venture as seamlessly as possible.
2. Walk us through the vision and motto of the brand.
Priyanka: Our vision is to be the predominant occasion-wear choice for contemporary shoppers around the world. And our mission is to deliver world-class quality through deliberate and persistent innovation.
We are essentially a human-centered brand and we firmly believe that luxury lies in quality. We aim to create purposeful designs and extend increasingly meaningful experiences to our consumers.
3. What are the 3 USPs that sets your brand different from the other brands in the market?
Priyanka:

4. I know it’s really hard to choose but what would be your favorite curation from your collections?
Priyanka: As a collection, “Aham” our latest collection, is an earnest attempt to celebrate the changing phase of men’s fashion in India.
5. What is the one inspiration you would like to mention that is behind your collections or ideas?
Priyanka: We seek inspiration from the world of architecture from corals to mythology to handcraft to music. We wish to keep pushing our boundaries by drawing inspiration from all things beautiful around us in order to make your dressing wardrobe more eclectic and diverse.
6. What is your take on Sustainable or Eco-friendly fashion?
Priyanka: We currently utilize natural and biodegradable materials as much as possible like bomber lining as opposed to polyester-based linings that have a very large carbon footprint. Additionally, our packaging is currently as sustainable as can be. Going forward, we would like to introduce Occasion-wear with fabrics that are more environmental friendly.
7. How do you feel is one’s personality attributed to the way one dresses?
Priyanka: Style is individualistic and should be ever-changing. Wearing the right kind of clothes can give your confidence a huge boost. If you like what you are wearing it will reflect on the outside, enhancing your personality.
8. How does every outfit you create defines to be a style statement?
Priyanka: We aim to stick to clean, crisp, and classic cuts to aid timelessness and versatility. We prefer to pick sharp cuts and structured silhouettes that retain the charm of bespoke clothing.

10. With the evolving race of fashion, how do you as a designer or curator cope up with these changing fashion trends?
Priyanka: Men’s fashion in India is evolving spectacularly and with great promise. The category has seen a lot of growth in the past few years and we can see a bright future ahead.
With the growth shifting from workplace clothing to ceremonial clothing, we aim to keep creating more contemporary and clean ensembles that are not only functional but truly exhilarating to look at. Our hope is that luxury menswear in India is driven by innovation and we expect to be at the forefront of that effort. We also hope to expand to Occasion-wear for Women as well as Home decor in the near future.
